The Three Tenors

The Three Tenors were Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jos?arreras. With each the subject of considerable success and acclaim as a solo performer, their occasional collaborations as the Three Tenors were guaranteed media events, selling out stadiums and even reaching the upper rungs of the pop charts. Birth: May 29, 1860 Death: May 18, 1909 Composer. A leading figure in the Nationalist movement of Spanish music, his renown rests chiefly on his keyboard works. Several of Albeniz's piano pieces have been transcribed for guitar, most famously the "Asturias (Leyenda)" from the "Suite Espanola". Many have attributed the first transcription for guitar to Francisco T?ega who put it in its most recognizable key, E minor, and subsequently made popular by Andres Segovia.

Born: February 21, 1893 - Linares, Granada, Spain Died: June 2, 1987 - Madrid, Spain The father of the modern classical guitar movement, Andres Segovia raised his chosen instrument to new peaks of popularity and respectability; it is widely held that without his efforts, the classical guitar would still remain in the eyes of purists a lowly bar instrument, to be performed only by peasants.

This video shows Andres Segovia playing Leyenda (Asturias) which is a work of classical music written by the Spanish composer Isaac Alb?z. The title "Asturias" was given to it by German publisher Hofmeister, though it is not influenced by Asturias folk music, this piece is strongly influenced by Andalusian traditions. This region is divided into eight provinces: Huelva, Seville, C?z, C?ba, M?ga, Ja? Granada and Almer? Andalusian classical music (or Arabo-Andalusian music, moussiqua al-?) is a style of Arabic music found across North Africa. This type of music has a mixture of origins. Mass resettlements of Muslims and Sephardi Jews from Cordoba, Sevilla, Valencia and Granada, fleeing the Reconquista, further expanded the reach of Andalusian music.***Pablo Piccaso was from this reagion of Spain,(M?ga).
